Sinulog festival in cebu city

When January enters, you can see this all over the city of cebu, especially in colon street... girls, ladies, boys, guys, gays, lesbians, kids, all lined up to have their body part a henna tattoo, i myself do this also every sinulog to feel the festivity... (that's not me on the picture)...   henna tattoo rates P50/$1.15 up depending on the design you want the henna artist will let you see on their booklet of designs.. some got hundreds of designs.... and it just takes minutes.....

Fluvial parade.. this happens on the morning the day before the sinulog event... where at afternoon people will get the chance to be in the solemn procession or just even watch the solemn procession pass by some streets here in cebu city... when the image of sto. nino (during the procession) people will wave their hands to say some prayers, ask forgiveness and thanking for the blessing received.

On the 9 days of the novena for sto. nino..  you will often see this.... the people you see downstairs are all standing because you cant sit or even squat because the crowd... many people attend the mass, local or foreign.... and oh, even outside the church is full of people attending the said mass, because the road outside the church will be closed because of the expected crowd of people.... the people attending the mass are not just thousands, but millions.....  

During the solemn procession... this happens on saturday... (which is the day before the sinulog)... ordinary people, professionals, students, government employees, priests, etc. all attended the said procession... 

hungry during sinulog? no problem, because on every street, there are people selling this foods, and take note not only this even some stools in the mall go outside to sell also in the streets....  and not just foods, vendors also sells beverages because every sinulog its a one hot day that's why people often wearing hats... don't bring umbrellas, just wear hats... for some people's safety also.... because streets are so crowded like the picture below... and don't forget, don't bring a lot of money and don't wear expensive jewelry. and because its a one hot day, wear clothes that you're comfortable with...

and oh, i forgot on all streets in cebu, you can also see this... some offers t-shirt printing with sinulog themes for affordable prices, some sells accessories like the one you see below.... there are also vendors that sells hand fans, images of sto. nino, hats with sinulog theme, and so much more.

And not to mention in the afternoon you can see local artist motorcade around the city... some will just walk and enjoy the festival and some local reporters (from outside cebu) will report about the happenings of the festival. 

You will also see contingents dancing on the streets for the street dancing and some will dance on the stage at the Abellana Sports Complex. And there are also Floats Category where almost all of the company joined... 

There's nothing to worry about anything also, because many police men rove around the city to secure the locals and the foreigners safety. 

And the celebration don't end right away, at night time its much more exciting... you can see free concerts on some malls and on the streets and not to mention the very beautiful fireworks display.

Sinulog happens every 3rd sunday of January... so, visit cebu to enjoy the festivity... but you have to booked in the hotels or pension houses a month before, because often times hotels and pension houses are full during the sinulog season... And as what we shout in cebu during sinulog.... Pit Senyor!
